Walmart (WMT) Stock Forecast & Long-Term Predictions

On September 25, 2024, Walmart updated the historical maximum. Experts think it can go up more. The reason is preparations for the holiday season. Walmart uses strategies aimed at attracting thrifty consumers. Of the 41 analysts surveyed by Investing.com, 37 gave the asset a buy rating. The 12-month average target price is $83.4.

Technical analysis indicators suggest buying (timeframes 1D, 1W). There are signs of a long-term bullish trend. They include:

• Moving averages below the chart line;

• The ratio of short-term to long-term moving averages;

• MACD, Ultimate Oscillator, Bull/Bear Power indicators, etc. 

There are signs of a short-term correction. Technical analysis indicators suggest strong sell on lower time frames (timeframes 15M, 30M, 1H).

The price is at the top of the Bollinger Bands (monthly chart). It has bounced from it many times. RSI is over 70 on the 1W and 1MN timeframes.  

The price will probably drop for a short time. A break of $81.6 signals a strengthening of the bullish trend. If it breaks, the support lines will be at $59.00.

Walmart's revenue and earnings have grown by 16% and 15% over the past three years. Analysts expect Walmart to do well financially over the next five years. They note an increase in higher-income shoppers at Walmart. It highlights the success of Walmart's investments in e-commerce.

All the recent predictions are optimistic. Justin Pope believes the issuer will outperform the stock exchange. The bullish scenario is for a 2-fold growth. This makes the stock attractive to add to the portfolio.

The bulls say the company has these strengths:

• Competitive pricing and cost reduction.

The current P/E multiple is higher than the industry average, but lower than that of the main competitor. This also indicates the potential for capital growth.
